Catriona Gray, born to a Filipina mother and an Australian father of Scottish origin, has brought to the local ramp and stage, a stand-out presence backed up by looks that dazzle and a singing style borne of great talent.
Cat was only 13 when, on a family holiday, she was introduced to a talent agency. In the coming years, she would travel to the Philippines until last year, when she chose Manila as her home base.
So far, she has appeared solo on two magazine covers, and has been featured in magazines, websites and billboards. She has done commercials for SMART, Nescafe and ponds, among other products. She also participated in two seasons of the Philippine Fashion week. These stints certainly have affirmed her versatility as a fashion, runway and commercial model.
Of her promising singing career, Cat’s greatest accomplishment was when she sang Jar Of Hearts live and solo in Michael Cinco’s Fearless Segment in the 2012 Bench Universe two-day fashion show. She thus went from only a handful of small-audience gigs, to a huge, televised, live, audience of 20,000.
If Cat sings differently from the rest, it’s because "I’m always trying to put emotion and soul into my singing, that’s why I’m so in love with honest, raw and powerful vocal renditions. Singer songwriters inspire me because they are involved in the meaning and process behind their music. To me, good music is memorable and great music moves you."
A constant learner, Cat tries “to keep myself as busy as possible learning and experiencing new things because I always want to keep moving forward whether it’s in a skill or personal journey. So my time – if not occupied by live gigs in events such as Magnum ice cream Product launches, demo recording sessions or shoots, is filled with piano lessons/playing, singing, Tagalog lessons, art, cooking and gym.”
Catriona should continue to bring us joy through her fashion and commercial modeling contracts and, of course, her singing engagements where she unfailingly dazzles her impressed listeners. And this year, her fans can look forward to the release of her debut solo album.
